What is a Tail Lift
A tail lift is a hydraulic lifting device installed at the rear of a truck, van or other transport vehicle for loading and unloading goods. It can easily lift goods from the ground to the compartment or from the compartment to the ground, reducing the burden of manpower handling and improving loading and unloading efficiency.
Tail lifts are mainly divided into two types of materials
1) Steel tail lift: a commonly used material with high strength and good durability, but relatively heavy.
2) Aluminum alloy tail lift: light weight, corrosion resistance, suitable for vehicles with strict weight requirements, but slightly lower strength than steel tail lift.
Load capacity can be divided into three types
1) Light tail lift: usually with a load capacity of less than 500 kg, suitable for light trucks or small vans.
2) Medium tail lift: with a load capacity between 500 kg and 2 tons, suitable for medium trucks.
3) Heavy tail lift: with a load capacity of more than 2 tons, suitable for large trucks or special transport vehicles.
How Tail Lift Works
1)The hydraulic tail lift is mainly composed of two parts: the hydraulic system and the control system
The hydraulic system includes a hydraulic pump, a hydraulic cylinder, and a hydraulic management
The control system includes a control button or a remote control and an electronic control system
2) Working process
Start the hydraulic pump: The user presses the lifting button, and the electronic control system starts the hydraulic pump.
Hydraulic oil flow: The hydraulic pump transports the hydraulic oil to the hydraulic cylinder through a pipeline.
Hydraulic cylinder action: After the hydraulic oil enters the hydraulic cylinder, it pushes the piston of the hydraulic cylinder to move, driving the tail lift platform to rise and fall.
Stop and fix: When the platform rises to a predetermined height, the user releases the button, the hydraulic pump stops working, and the platform is fixed in the current position under the pressure of the hydraulic oil.
3) Safety protection measures
Overload protection: Prevent the tail lift from working under overload conditions to protect the safety of equipment and personnel.
Emergency stop device: In the event of an accident, the user can press the emergency stop button to immediately stop the movement of the tail lift.
Limit switch: When the platform rises to the limit position, the movement of the tail lift is automatically stopped to prevent damage to the equipment.
Anti-slip device: The surface of the platform usually has an anti-slip design to prevent the cargo from sliding during the lifting process.
4) Precautions for use
Operation training: Operators should undergo professional training to understand the use of the tail lift and safe operating procedures.
Regular inspection: Regularly check the various components of the tail lift to ensure the normal operation of the hydraulic oil or electric system.
Load limit: Strictly use the tail lift according to the load limit to avoid overloading.
Environmental adaptation: In extreme weather conditions (such as heavy rain, heavy snow or extremely high/low temperatures), attention should be paid to the safety of the tail lift operation.
